From the grower:
Is this named for the Charlie Chaplin movie, for the color reminiscent of the bright green light to first illuminate evening Broadway shows, or the famed disco in Chelsea, NYC? Perhaps all three, as this stunner is a unique American lime-colored hybrid snowdrop of distinct quality. The foliage curls loosely around the base as the flowers mature creating a stunning display of foliage with flowers, once considered to be a must for the overall aesthetic of a named cultivar. This is a spontaneous hybrid from my woodland garden, when I first noticed it flowering in 2023.
This spontaneous hybrid first flowered in my woodland and when I first noticed the flower in 2023, it had an overly large spathe similar to the sharlockii strain and was quite yellow in color, hence I labeled it “Yellowish Whopper.” Since settling down, the curious “ray of light” through the middle of the inner segments continued halfway into the ovary and became consistently pronounced.
